THE STATE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROCESS 

Please join me for my 114th Town Hall, which will be held virtually at 7
p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22. 

Our discussion will focus on the state constitutional amendment process.


There have been 70 proposed constitutional amendments introduced so far
this legislative session. Utilizing this process to this degree is very
concerning. If a constitutional amendment passes two sessions of the
General Assembly, then it goes on the ballot for the voters to decide.
There is very little education about what the amendment does, it often
ends up on the ballot for a low turnout election, and the wording of the
amendment can be misleading. A few constitutional amendments "on the
move" include judicial gerrymandering, prohibiting abortion and ensuring
that an Independent Redistricting Commission does not become a reality. 

I will also share an update on the congressional and legislative
redistricting. 

The meeting will be held over Zoom and Facebook Live.
