<p class="MsoNormal">The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) has identified a recent increase in raccoons infected with rabies in the Roxborough and Manayunk neighborhoods of Philadelphia. Bites and non-bite exposures (scratches, saliva getting
into eyes, nose, mouth or an open wound) to raccoons or other wild or feral animals, including bats, should be reported to PDPH by calling
<b>215-685-6741</b>. <u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">If you had contact with an animal that may be rabid, you should get a post-exposure series of four vaccinations and an initial dose of rabies immune globulin as soon as possible. Rabies is a fatal but preventable disease. The series is
effective at preventing rabies and should be administered when:<u></u><u></u></p>
