THE PHILADELPHIA WATER DEPARTMENT IS PREPARING CONSTRUCTION OF DRINKING
WATER AND WASTEWATER PROJECTS IN YOUR AREA.

Dear Resident, 

We are preparing an infrastructure project in your neighborhood. This
project is called CANTON / WRIGHT (PWD PROJECT #41234) [4]. The
contractor assigned to this job is AP CONSTRUCTION. 

CONSTRUCTION IS EXPECTED IN FALL 2026

This project is in the pre-construction phase, and construction is
expected to begin in 6 TO 9 MONTHS. Letters will be sent to neighbors
before construction starts. 

Since this project contains different types of infrastructure upgrades,
we phase the work. Each phase has its own unique timeline.  

At times, you may experience short, temporary service interruptions. PWD
will alert you one business day before planned, longer service
interruptions. 

REASONS FOR THIS PROJECT

This project will include the following improvements to your
neighborhood: 

 	* NEW WATER MAINS [5] to improve drinking water service reliability
and reduce emergency breaks 
 	* NEW SEWERS [6] or sewer lining to increase wastewater service
reliability by reducing clogs and backups
 	* POSSIBLE LEAD SERVICE LINE (LSL) REPLACEMENT [7]: Homes with
confirmed lead services lines are eligible for free replacements.  (This
work only happens on blocks receiving new water mains, view project map.

FREE LEAD SERVICE LINE REPLACEMENT DURING PLANNED WATER MAIN WORK

The water service line is a pipe that carries water from one of our
water mains into your home. In Philadelphia, RESIDENTIAL SERVICE LINES
ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PROPERTY OWNERS. 

This pipe is your property. However, if we discover your pipe is made of
lead (or galvanized metal), we'll offer to replace the entire line, free
of charge.     

TO PROVIDE THIS FREE SERVICE, we'll need the property owner's permission
to access the property.
